Make sure you have the following installed:
- Latest version of WordPress
- Latest version of the Genesis Framework
Before you install your child theme, ensure you have the latest Genesis parent theme installed. If you do not, you can follow the same instructions below to install the Genesis parent theme before proceeding to install your new child theme.
- Go to Appearance > Themes and click “Add New” or “Add New Theme” button.
- Click the “Upload Theme” button.
- Click the “Choose File” button, find/select your theme zip file, and click “Open”.
- Click the “Install Now” button.
- Click the “Activate” link.
This step is optional. If you wish to install any of the plugins used in the theme demo, follow the instructions below for each.
- Go to: Plugins > Add New.
- Search for the plugin you want to install.
- Click Install Now.
- Click Activate Now.
For your convenience, an export file of the demo site is available to assist in the setup of your theme. This file is located in the xml folder of your theme.

Theme Settings
In your WordPress admin, navigate to Genesis > Theme Settings.
To setup Content Archives like the demo, use the following settings:
Front Page
Set a static page as your “Front page” under Settings > Reading or leave as-is to display recent posts.
Site Title / Logo Image
The theme supports both text based logo/description or a logo image. You can change this under Genesis > Theme Settings.
For a logo image, replace the logo.png and logo@2x.png files with your own in the theme’s “images” directory.
You may need to modify some CSS for logo background sizing in a couple areas. Contact us if you need assistance.
Navigation Menu
Create your menu(s) under Appearance > Menus.
Select “Primary Navigation Menu” to enable the menu.
Sidebar Widgets
There is a Primary Sidebar widgets area under Appearance > Widgets.
