Code snippets to fine-tune the Jetpack Tiled Galleries and Carousel modules as used on the Leif Erikson demo and shown below.
This isn’t necessarily Genesis specific, it should work with any WordPress theme, but Genesis is what we use and you should too.
First, make sure you have the Jetpack plugin installed with the Tiled Galleries and Carousel (optional) modules activated. While you are at it, you should consider deactivating any modules you do NOT use. Let’s keep things clean.
To create the gallery, simply create a standard WordPress gallery with your images added to your page or post. We are using the following settings for the demo:
Link To: Media File
Random Order: True
Type: Tiled Mosaic
We also have the Carousel background set to “white” under Settings > Media > Image Gallery Carousel.
The default width of the gallery is only 500px, let’s make it wider. Add the following code to your functions.php file to increase this to 800px or whatever works best for your theme. The gallery is responsive so it will adapt.
Great! Now let’s fine-tune the lightbox carousel to remove the image meta, title, comments, etc. since we want it to be minimal, right? Of course. Caption will show if used. Add the following to your stylesheet. Hint: look for the “Jetpack” section which is in all of our themes and many Genesis child themes and add it there if it exists.
